Diablo 4 Mounts - Complete Guide

Diablo 4 Mounts - Complete Guide

In-depth Article on Diablo 4 Mounts including all core information about them

How Diablo 4 Mounts work and why you should get one?

One of the key features of Diablo 4 is its open world. There are lots of events and activities to participate in all over the map, and Waypoints in major cities usually are not enough to satisfy the players' needs. To provide the best user experience, Diablo 4 introduces a variety of awe-inspiring mounts, each with its unique characteristics and visual flair. From fierce warhorses to mythical creatures, players will find a mount that suits their style. Mounts are not mere cosmetic enhancements but powerful allies that aid players by enhancing movement speed or even engaging in combat alongside the player. These abilities ensure that mounts serve as more than just a mode of transportation. Spur and Dismount skills are viable for all characters, but each class has an extra Mount Skill to use instead of a regular Dismount. Such skills give you an upper hand as you jump back into combat, with Spur increasing movement speed.

Spectral Charger, is a favorite of many.

Acquiring Mounts

You won't be able to use the Mount system from the very beginning. You will need to progress the campaign up to Act IV. To unlock your first mount, Old Nell Steed, complete the "Donan's Favor" Priority Quest in Kyovashad. It's hard to miss it. Obtaining different mounts is an adventure in itself. They can be looted in specific areas, procured from Stable Masters, purchased with premium currency, obtained through co-brand deals or Twitch drops, or acquired by other various means (some may be unavailable now). With each new mount acquired, players expand their collection, as these mounts will be available for all characters tied to the account.

Customization

All mounts are normalized, so you don't have to worry about getting the best speed or durability. The only thing that changes across various mounts is their look. Beyond their inherent abilities, mounts can be customized to reflect a player's individuality. Through the use of cosmetic enhancements and equipment, players can personalize their mounts, imbuing them with a distinct visual identity. From extravagant armor and unique saddles to decorative adornments, the options for customization are vast. These cosmetics are primarily obtainable through selective farming and have no effect on gameplay. You can customize your beloved companion at the Stable Master in most cities and outposts.

Temptation Mount, included in the Deluxe edition.

The Best Mount

It's impossible to rank mounts by their virtues as they're all the same in terms of usability, but they do vary in rarity or price. New mounts are continuously being added to the game as event rewards or microtransactions, so attempting to form a list to rank them is futile. Consider the aesthetic appeal of a mount and whether it aligns with your personal tastes (Many players seem to like The Spectral Charger due to its unique ghostly appearance). After all, you'll be spending a significant amount of time riding it, so choose one that you find visually appealing. If you want to show off, try to obtain a mount considered rare or valuable.

Controls

The default Keybind to summon your Mount is the Z Key. It is instant action, but it does have a few seconds of Cooldown time after dismounting, so you can't spam it. The most important ability of your Mount is the Spur, which prompts it to a shot gallop. To activate it, you should use your Evade button, which usually means the Spacebar. It can store up to 3 Charges for rapid acceleration of movement. It is also worth noting that Cooldown Reduction modifiers on your Gear affect those charges too. By changing your cursor distance from your character, you can manipulate the speed of your horse. To activate the best speed, you should have your cursor far away from you. On the other hand, if you want to show off your majestic horse you can perform a slow walk if you place the cursor right beneath your character.

Bardings

While you journey through the world of Sanctum and loot valuable equipment, you should not forget about your companion. Bardings, also known as horse armor, are protective coverings designed to be worn by horses. They serve the decorative role to customize your mount even more. There are many types of bardings, each with a distinguishable look to them. You should try to mix them up with various Horses to see which one you like the most!

The Temptation mounts look much more fierce with the armor on!

Trophies

Trophies add yet another layer of customization for your mount. These trophies often serve as decorative or display items, showcasing the player's accomplishments and collection. Mount trophies are essentially souvenirs or tokens that players receive as recognition for their heroic deeds. Players can showcase their collection of mount trophies as a way to demonstrate their progress, dedication, and achievements within the game. You can obtain mount trophies through various means, such as completing challenging achievements, defeating difficult bosses, completing specific quests, or participating in special events.
