Last Update: October 13, 2026
Introduction
Amplified Weapons are one of the biggest long-term additions in Frozen Trail 2.0. Fifteen existing guns can now reach a fifth quality tier and gain new firing modes, ammunition types, magazines or handling upgrades that can substantially change how they play.
The system also asks for serious investment. You need a developed Outpost, Level IV Gunsmith and Research Station, Amplification Modules, Research Points and rare ARC materials. That makes picking the right projects far more important than simply unlocking everything in order.
This guide focuses on the choices that currently give the strongest return: the best Amplified weapons, their strongest upgrade paths and the research projects worth prioritizing first.
How Weapon Amplification Works

Amplification becomes available after developing the Outpost and raising both the Gunsmith and Research Station to Level IV. A compatible Level IV weapon can then consume an Amplification Module matching its rarity to reach the fifth weapon tier.
Projects at the Research Station open upgrades such as Ramping Damage, Slug Rounds, X-Rounds and Burst Fire across every compatible weapon.
Finishing research gives access to the branch. Installing that branch on a specific weapon consumes additional ARC components.
Weapons such as Bettina can branch into very different setups. Your choice shapes that particular gun permanently.
Amplified weapons gain additional maximum durability, but repairs consume Amplified resources and become increasingly expensive on developed builds.
Amplification Modules Explained
The Module Mark follows the weapon's rarity. This keeps cheap projects accessible while Legendary builds demand the rarest version of the material.
| Module | Rarity | Compatible Weapons |
|---|---|---|
| Mk. I | Common | Hairpin, Kettle, Rattler |
| Mk. II | Uncommon | Burletta, Il Toro |
| Mk. III | Rare | Anvil, Canto, Osprey, Rascal, Renegade |
| Mk. IV | Epic | Bettina, Hullcracker |
| Mk. V | Legendary | Aphelion, Equalizer, Jupiter |
Equalizer - Bigger Mag + Ramping Damage

Best High-End PvE Project
Ramping Damage increases Equalizer's output while the beam stays connected to a valid target. This naturally favors large ARC enemies, where maintaining contact is realistic and longer damage windows matter.
Bigger Mag adds 30 rounds, giving the beam more time to build its damage and reducing interruptions during boss fights. The two upgrades complement each other extremely well and currently form one of the clearest endgame Amplification targets.
Hullcracker - Incendiary Grenades + Mag Reload

Excellent for Bosses and Heavy ARC
Incendiary Grenades turn Hullcracker into a more specialized heavy-ARC weapon. The projectile loses some direct damage and velocity, then adds a strong burn around the impact.
Mag Reload solves another major weakness by replacing the slow projectile-by-projectile loading cycle with a full magazine reload. Current player feedback consistently places this combination among the most satisfying PvE Amplifications.
Il Toro - Slug Rounds + Faster Loading

One of the Biggest Weapon Transformations
Slug Rounds replace the normal shotgun spread with one heavy projectile. Il Toro gains a much cleaner ranged profile and strong burst against Raiders while also improving its ability to pressure ARC armor.
Pairing the Slug setup with faster loading keeps downtime manageable and gives the weapon a very different identity from the standard shotgun. The relatively accessible Mk. II requirement also makes it easier to justify than many premium projects.
Burletta - Burst Fire Is the Better Early Bet

Burst Fire + Increased Burst
Full-Auto Burletta was one of the update's headline examples, yet the live version pays heavily for that fire rate through recoil, dispersion and weaker headshot performance.
Burst Fire keeps the weapon much more controlled. Increased Burst extends the volley further and creates a compact close-range damage window that currently fits the gun better than the full-auto conversion.
Rattler - One of the Best Value Projects

Drum Mag + More Reload + Incendiary Rounds
Rattler gains far more build depth than its rarity suggests. Drum Mag adds 40 rounds, More Reload speeds up the loading cycle and Incendiary Rounds add extra pressure over time.
The Drum also increases recoil and dispersion, so the weapon benefits from a controlled firing rhythm. For players sitting on Mk. I Modules, Rattler is one of the easiest projects to recommend.
Other Amplified Weapons Worth Building
Bigger Mag adds 15 rounds and keeps the familiar automatic playstyle. The Semi-Auto branch leads into X-Rounds and creates a harder-hitting ARC-focused alternative.
X-Rounds improve damage against ARC armor and currently look more broadly useful than the returning Splitter path.
A Scope plus faster loading creates an excellent long-range Heavy Ammo rifle. Its value rises sharply for players already comfortable with the base Renegade.
Carbine Conversion significantly improves recoil and accuracy while Incendiary Rounds add another source of pressure.
Straight Bolt allows the weapon to cycle while staying scoped. Jupiter can add a scope and larger magazine as well, creating a polished precision setup.
Charged Burst, Increased Burst and Bigger Mag offer plenty of build depth. Its Legendary cost makes it a better later project once your core arsenal is established.
Best Research Priority
Most major Amplification projects ask for 5,000 Research Points plus ARC components and a gameplay challenge. Shared technologies deserve extra attention because one research can improve several weapons.
Do Not Ignore Repair Costs
Amplified guns receive extra durability, but each additional branch also increases the value tied up in that weapon. Repairs consume Amplified resources, and developed Legendary weapons can become particularly expensive to maintain after a bad raid.
This changes the value equation. A spectacular upgrade on a weapon that rarely leaves your stash contributes very little, while a modest Rattler, Renegade or Il Toro project can pay for itself through constant use.
Where to Focus Your Farming
Amplification progression naturally points toward the new endgame activities. The fallen Emperor provides Amplification Modules, while the Frigate is a major source of rare technology and research-related loot. Redirection also feeds the broader Emperor progression loop.
Prioritize fallen Emperor runs and keep the Marks that match your planned weapons.
Frigate loot includes high-value research items, making it one of the most efficient activities once you can survive it consistently.
Track the ARC enemies tied to the technology you actually plan to install and let those targets guide part of your normal farming.
Finish one weapon path, keep a repair reserve and then move into the next project.

Final Thoughts
Amplification works best when you treat it as weapon specialization. Equalizer and Hullcracker currently lead the PvE side, Il Toro and Burst Burletta bring some of the most interesting PvP changes, and Rattler proves that a strong project does not need a Legendary Module.
Pick a gun you already trust, research the branch that strengthens its real job and leave enough resources to maintain it. One finished Amplified weapon will usually do more for your raids than several expensive experiments sitting in storage.
