The Lord of Hatred expansion introduced a whole new system - Talisman. It is a reimagined version of two famous systems known from previous versions of the Diablo Series combined into one, elegant solution. You can now once again hunt for completion of the whole Set to gain immense bonuses, while also fine-tuning your character with specialised modifiers using Charms and Seals. It provides an additional way to improve your character outside your standard equipment. 

 

Talisman Seal

The fundamental piece of your Talisman is the Seal. You can unlock the dedicated Talisman slot within the Lord of Hatred Campaign, but to use it, you will first need to obtain a Seal as part of your regular loot. They are found commonly from any activity in the game, but finding the perfect one will take a lot of time. The Seal has 3 basic properties: 

  • Charms capacity - unlocking all 6 Charm slots is usually the most important aspect of your Seal.
  • Base modifiers - generic and useful modifiers that suit every setup.
  • Special modifiers - specific bonuses to certain Sets.

Most Seals are found with only 5 Charm Slots, which allows you to complete the Set. Within the sixth slot, you can use a Legendary Charm on top of that, which is often a massive boost for your Damage or survivability. The ideal Seal should provide all 6 Charm slots, improve the correct Damage type matching your Build, and empower your Set bonus. Getting all those properties at once is hard, but not impossible. You can also rarely encounter Mythic Seals that alter your setup even more, but in most scenarios, a regular Seal will perform better.  

During your journey, you will find many Seals of doubtful usefulness. You can sell them to a vendor for a hefty amount of Gold, but it is often a better idea to use the Horadric recipe. Use the 3 to 1 Transmutation option in the Horadric Cube to greatly speed up your hunt for the ideal Seal.

Charms

The main point of the Talisman system is to collect powerful Sets of Charms. There are Class-specific Sets that require 5 pieces to complete, and generic Sets that usually require only 2 or 3 pieces for the full bonus. There are also Unique Charms that possess the base bonuses of existing Unique Items, allowing you to incorporate yet another powerful effect into your Build. The Unique Charms are quite rare, even more so if you want a specific bonus. Fortunately, you can craft them using the new Horadric Cube. To do that, you will need any 3 other Unique Charms and the Ancestral version of the desired Unique. Not every Unique power can be obtained that way, and there are no specific rules that could determine it. Most likely, we will see more Unique powers added to this list in future updates. 

On top of being a part of the Set, each Charm also provides individual modifiers for your character. The most valuable affixes to look for are: 

  • Additional Ranks for your Skills
  • Extra Attributes
  • Generic or specific Damage type that matches your Build
  • Movement Speed or Resources

Once you accumulate a surplus of Set Charms, you should use the Horadric Cube recipe to reroll the Set Charm. By doing so, you will cycle through all possible variants and Affixes. With a little bit of luck, you can even obtain a Greater Affix this way.

Warlock

Shadow of Harash

Enemies within Shadowform areas are Dominated for up to 7 seconds, preventing them from acting and causing them to move where you target with Recast Skills.

3 Shadowform reduces damage taken by 25% and leaves Sigil of Subversion shadow trails behind you while moving.
5 Your Abyss Skill damage is increased by 350%[x] while you have Shadowform but each cast consumes 1 stack. Dominated enemies take an additional 100%[x] damage.

Horazon's Chains

Gain a bonus for each active Soulshard Demon:

  • Aegrom: +30% increased damage per greater Demon
  • Abodian: +25% increased Movement Speed and Attack Speed
  • Laalish: Attacks execute enemies
  • Vailoch: +50% increased Dominance generation
3 Gain 8.5% damage reduction per active Soulshard Demon.
5 Gain all Soul Shard demons and deal 200% increased Damage for 10 seconds after casting a Soul Shard Skill. All Soul Shard Skill costs are reduced by 35%.

Flesh of Abaddon

While in Demonform quickly gain Infernal Hunger stacks, each increasing the damage you take by 0.5%. Killing enemies or hitting Bosses converts Infernal Hunger stacks into Demonic Strength, each granting 2% increased Damage for 20 seconds.

3 Demonform increases your Maximum Life by 10%, each stack of Demonic Strength grants 0.2% additional Maximum Life.
5 Demonic Strength's bonuses are increased by 150% and now persist after you leave Demonform. Casting Core or Basic Hellfire Skills outside Demonform consumes 1 Demonic Strength to cast them again at a random enemy.

Ritual of the Nameless

Casting a Sigil Skill creates a ritual that lasts for 60 seconds and grants 100% damage, increasing up to 200% by the end of the ritual. Completing Sigils advances the ritual by 6 seconds, and when the timer expires, your next Sigil skill releases Inner Power, allowing you to cast occult skills for free for 6 seconds.

3 The ritual grants 20% Damage Reduction, which increases as the ritual intensifies.
5 Casting a Sigil skill now generates all Sigil Basic skills. You deal 200% increased damage to enemies affected by Sigil Basic skills.

Fulcrum of Mefis 

2

Gain Sadism for 10 seconds as your demons take damage or die, increasing the damage your demons take by 2% per stack. You deal up to 200% more damage to enemies based on how much damage they have done to your demons.

3 Sadism sends 2% of the damage you take to each of your demons. Sadism additionally increases enemy aggression towards your demons.
5 Sadism increases your Demonology Skill damage by 2% per stack. Killing enemies while at max Sadism has a 25% chance to twist them into one of your equipped Lesser Demon Summons.
Barbarian

Arms of Arreat 

2 Casting Skills that swapped weapons deal 80%[x] increased damage and reduce your Weapon Mastery Cooldowns by 5 seconds.
3 Swapping weapons grants 2 Resolve and a Barrier for 10% of your Maximum Life, up to 100%, for 6 seconds.
5 Swapping weapons grants 40%[x] increased damage for 6 seconds, stacking up to 120% (x), and also triggers an equipped Non-Ultimate Weapon Mastery Skill.

Bloodletter's Flow

Your Bleeding effects last 80% longer and make enemies Vulnerable.

3 Gain 30% Maximum Life and 500 Life on Hit.
5 Casting a skill that applies Bleeding to enemies has 30% chance to Rupture them for 600% increased damage. Enemies Bleeding for more than their remaining Life take 100% increased Bleeding damage.

Sescheron's Fury

While at or above 100 Fury, you become Colossal, losing 50% Cast Speed but gaining 20% Character and Skill Size and 120% increased damage.

3 You gain an additional 10 Fury when hit and 30% Maximum Life.
5 Your Maximum Fury is increased by 50. Colossal further increases Skill size to 50% and damage to 600%.

Bul-Kathos' Pride 

2

Ancient Skills cost 50% reduced Fury, gain 50% increased Cooldown Reduction, and deal 50% increased damage.

3 Summoning an Ancient grants 5% Damage Reduction for 10 seconds, up to 30%.
5 When Summoning an Ancient, Summon 1 additional Ancient. Ancient Skills deal 200% increased damage.

Berserker's Crucible 

2

Berserking's damage bonus is increased by 50% and it also grants 20% Cast Speed.

3 Gain 30% Damage Reduction while Berserking.
5 You gain stacking bonuses the longer you stay Berserking:
  • 5 seconds - 200% Damage and 30% Fury Cost Reduction.
  • 10 seconds - 10 Fury Per Second and 10% Cooldown Reduction.
  • 20 seconds - Every 5 seconds, trigger a random Shout Skill.
  • 60 seconds - 30% increased damage against Elites.
Paladin

Cathan's Righteous Will

Enemies cower before you, becoming Feared and Immobilized for 0.5 seconds when they first see you or when you Block them.

3 You reflect Stun and Knockback effects. Your Minimum Resolve is increased by 2 and Maximum Resolve is increased by 2 and you gain +10% Damage Reduction for each Minimum Resolve you have.
5 When you try to Crowd Control a worthy enemy, one that can't be Crowd Controlled, you rise to the occasion gaining 500% increased damage for 10 seconds.

Cathan's Dauntless Faith

Zealot Skills grant Do or Die on hit, increasing your Critical Strike damage by 2.5%[x] and Cast Speed by +0.4% for 2 seconds, stacking up to 25 times.

3 Do or Die automatically triggers Rally every 6 seconds while at maximum stacks. Rally additionally grants 30% increased Damage Reduction.
5 Zealot Skills deal 200% increased damage. Every 5 Stacks of Do or Die you gain stores a Zealot Afterimage and moving periodically spawns your stored Afterimages.

Cathan's Iron Conviction

Gain 55% Aura Potency.

3 Your Auras Skills gain all of their Upgrades. Your Auras Skills actives no longer take Faith to Cast.
5 Gain Conviction Aura, increasing the damage Nearby enemies take from all sources by 0.5% per Skill Rank you have in all your Aura Skills.

Heaven's Radiant Fire

Judgement now spreads to targets that don't have it and Judging enemies grants Judgement Day, increasing your damage by 12.5%[x] for 10 seconds, up to 5 times.

3 You gain 25%[+] Damage Reduction and Heal for 3% of your Maximum Life every second while affected by Judgement Day.
5 Increases Judgement Day's maximum number of stacks to 40.

Light's Epiphany 

2

Disciple Skills reduce the Cooldown of Arbiter of Justice by 0.1 seconds when they deal damage, or by 0.5 seconds if they have a Cooldown.

3 While in Arbiter, gain 30% increased Maximum Life and 10% increased Movement Speed.
5 When you Cast Arbiter of Justice unleash all Ultimates, triggering Heaven's Fury and Fortress and replacing Arbiter of Justice with Zenith for 10 seconds. Gain 500% increased damage with Disciple Skills for the duration of Arbiter of Justice. All Ultimates are also Disciple Skills.
Druid

Nafain's Bestiary

Summon a Bear Companion that attacks enemies for [X] damage and may cast Battle Roar, increasing the damage of all Companions by 60%[x] for 10 seconds. (15 second cooldown)

3 30% of the damage you take is split between you and your Bear Companion. When you or your Bear Companion becomes Injured, your Bear Companion casts Debilitating Roar on enemies and fully heals.
5 Gain 1 additional Bear and all other Companions of each type. Gain all Companion Side Upgrades for free.

Might of the Den Mother 

2

Storm Skills no longer cost Spirit to cast. Casting a Storm Skill consumes all available Spirit to increase Storm Skill damage by 0.5 per Spirit consumed for 2 seconds, up to 75%. Additional bonuses may stack but do not refresh.

3 Gain Cyclone Armor for free. Cyclone Armor grants 30% Damage Reduction and triggers when Close enemies damage you. This effect can only happen once every 10 seconds, affected by Cooldown Reduction.
5 Storm Skills have a 20% chance to Double Cast and a 5% chance to Triple Cast. Double Casts gain a 100% damage bonus and Triple Casts gain a 300% damage bonus.

Rush of the Red Wolf Moon

Your Earth Skills Fossilize enemies, reducing their movement speed by 15% and increasing the damage they take from your Earth Skills by 15% for 4 seconds. Enemies become Fossilized at 4 stacks, Petrifying them for 3 seconds. Petrified enemies are Stunned and take 100% bonus Critical Strike Damage.

3 Fossilizing enemies grants 30% Damage Reduction for 15 seconds.
5 Petrified enemies absorb your damage dealt and will explode for 200% of the amount absorbed when Petrify expires or if the absorbed damage exceeds the target's remaining Life.

Song of the Old Mountain

While in Werewolf form, you periodically smell dread in enemies, marking them. Your Werewolf Skills deal 50% bonus damage to marked enemies. Attacking a marked enemy grants you 1 second of Blood Hunt, increasing your Movement Speed and Attack Speed by 20%. Killing a marked enemy instead grants 2 seconds.

3 Gain 20% Damage Reduction while in Werewolf form. You heal for 70% of any damage taken over 3 seconds.
5 When Blood Hunt exceeds 40 seconds, you explode in a Feral Rage for 10 seconds, allowing all of your Werewolf Skills to dash you towards your target and dealing 250% bonus damage. Killing enemies extends the duration of Feral Rage by 1 second.

Storm Shepherd's Call 

2

Taking or dealing damage in Werebear form grants 1 stack of Stoicism, (2 while Berserking) which increases your damage by 2%. Stacks up to 40 times and lasts 15 seconds.

3 Increases your Damage Reduction while in Werebear form by 25% and an additional 10% while Berserking.
5 At 40 stacks of Stoicism, you explode in a feral Rampage for 10 seconds. While Rampaging, you grow larger allowing your Werebear Skills to deal 225% bonus damage. In addition, Rampaging allows you to move Unhindered through enemies Knocking them Down.
Necromancer

Art of the Bone Weaver

2

After spending 100 Essence on Bone Skills you gain Quintessence for 15 seconds. Quintessence increases your Critical Strike Chance by 10% and your Critical Strike Damage by 50%.

3 Quintessence also grants 30% Damage Reduction.
5 Whenever you gain Quintessence you spray out 12 piercing bone shards in all directions, dealing 5 damage each, generating 3 Essence per enemy hit, and causing enemies hit to take 175% increased damage from your Bone Skills.

Peace of the Black Shroud 

2

Your Darkness Skills deal 75% of their damage as additional Corrupting or Frostbite damage over 30 seconds.

3 You gain 30% Damage Reduction for 5 seconds whenever you deal damage over time to an enemy.
5 You deal 175% increased Shadow and Cold damage. Enemies who are Corrupted or Frostbitten for more than their remaining life are Vulnerable, Weakened, Slowed by 85%, Feared for 5 seconds, and take an additional 50% increased damage from you.

Radament's Desecration 

2

Your Minions deal 60% increased damage and reduce the Cooldown of Army of the Dead by 1 second each time they deal damage.

3 35% of the damage you take is redirected to your Minions.
5 Army of the Dead deals 450% increased damage. While Army of the Dead is active, your Minions are 20% larger, have 100% increased Life, and gain 25% Attack Speed.

Rathma's Waking Touch

2

Forming or consuming a Corpse reduces the Essence costs and Cooldowns of your Profane and Macabre Skills by 25% and increases their damage by 30% for 6 seconds. Your Ultimate Skills form 10 Corpses over their duration.

3 When you form or consume a Corpse you gain 15% Damage Reduction for 6 seconds. Enemies nearby your Corpses are inflicted with Decrepify and Iron Maiden.
5 Your Profane and Macabre Skills deal 225% increased damage. Your Ultimate Skills are also Profane or Macabre Skills.

Word of the Blood Binder

Your Blood Skills Fortify you for 5% of your Maximum Life on cast and deal 60% increased damage while Fortify is actively healing you.

3 Every percentage of Fortified Life you gain also increases your Maximum Life by an equal percentage for 20 seconds, up to 50%.
5 Your Basic, Core, and Ultimate Blood Skills drain 3% of your Maximum Life on cast to deal 75% increased damage and cast twice.
Spiritborn

Balazan's Bite

Your Poisoning effects last 80% longer and Weaken enemies.

3 Gain 30% Maximum Life. Dealing Poisoning damage has a 10% chance to Heal you for 5% of your Maximum Life.
5 Every 6 seconds, a Non-Boss enemy who you Poisoned for more than their remaining Life is killed instantly and unleashes Scourge. Scourge increases your Poison damage by 250% for 10 seconds.

Bliss of the Multitude

While you have an Ultimate Skill active, your Skills gain that Ultimate's Spirit type. Your Skills deal 15% increased damage per Spirit type they have.

3 Casting a Skill grants you 35% Resistance to its Spirit's primary damage type and gain the Passive effect of that Spirit's Incarnate Skill for 10 seconds.
5 Casting a Skill has a 5% chance to invoke the Ultimate Spirit of that Skill's type and increase your damage from that Spirit by 50% for 10 seconds.

Kwatli's Grace

Moving 15 meters increases your Eagle Skill damage by 60% for 8 seconds and reduces your Eagle Skills' active Cooldowns by 2 seconds.

3 Gain 30% Damage Reduction while moving and for 1.5 seconds after.
5 Gain 50% Movement Speed. Your Eagle Skills deal 200% increased damage while moving and for 1.5 seconds after.

Rezoka's Rage

Dealing direct damage to enemies 65 times grants Prowess for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times, but does not refresh at 5 stacks. Jaguar Skills gain 5% Cast Speed and 10% Critical Strike Damage per stack.

3 Gain 5% Dodge Chance and 5% Damage Reduction per stack of Prowess.
5 Prowess now lasts 8 seconds and its bonuses are increased by 25%. While you have 5 stacks of Prowess, your Ferocity is overfilled by 2 and your Jaguar Skills deal 25% increased damage per Ferocity you have.

Wumba's Embrace

Gain 7000 Thorns. Blocking an attack has a 20% chance to pulse your Thorns around you. This damage counts as a Gorilla Skill.

3 Gain 30% Block Chance and 20% Damage Reduction.
5 Your Gorilla Skills deal 125% increased damage. Gain the Gorilla Primary Spirit Hall bonus for free with 250% potency.
Sorcerer

Breath of Frozen Sea

2

Frost Skills deal 70% of their direct damage as bonus Frostbite over 12 seconds.

3 You cannot be Chilled or Frozen. Your Maximum Life and Barrier generation is increased by 20%.
5 Frost Skill damage is increased by 200%. Freezing enemies consumes all Frostbite on them, dealing its remaining damage instantly.

Cain's Wild Lightning

2

Shock Skills gain Wild Strikes, increasing their damage by a random amount between 1% and 125%.

3 When Wild Strikes grants its maximum damage bonus, trigger a Lightning Bolt that repeats the damage and Stuns enemies for 1 second.
5 Wild Strike's maximum damage bonus is increased to 400%, and now rolls its bonus an additional time, using the higher result. If both rolls are maximum, trigger 2 Lightning Bolts.

Habacalva's Cauldron

Casting a Pyromancy Skill generates Heat, increasing your Pyromancy damage by 5%, stacking up to 15 times. Lose 5 Heat every second if you have not gained any in the last 4 seconds.

3 Heat now grants 100 Life on Hit and 2% Damage Reduction while Healthy.
5 You Overheat at maximum Heat, making your Pyromancy Skills free to cast, deal 200% increased damage, and have a 20% chance to inflict area damage for 6 seconds. All Heat is lost when Overheat expires.

Tal Rasha's Threefold Way

Once per Cast, damaging enemies draws on Tal Rasha's power, triggering a Mastery Skill, each element has a 6 second Cooldown: Frost Skills trigger Blizzard, Pyromancy Skills trigger Meteor, Shock Skills trigger Ball Lightning.

3 Casts and damage grant 30% All Resistances per element for 12 seconds.
5 Tal Rasha's power now unleashes all Mastery Skills and grants a different element 100% increased damage for 12 seconds, stacking up to 2 times.

Tiraj's Uncanny Insight

Your Conjuration Skills gain all of their side upgrades and now Weaken enemies for 3 seconds.

3 Casting Conjurations grants you 5% Damage Reduction for 5 seconds, to a max of 30%. Casts stack but do not refresh duration.
5 Gain the Enchantment effect of each equipped Conjuration Skill and they deal 175% increased damage.
Rogue

Nilfur's Narrow Eye

When you Cast a Marksman Basic Skill, you gain a stack of Vengeance, which grants 6%[+] increased Movement Speed and 12%[x] increased damage for your Marksman Skills. Vengeance stacks up to 5 times and loses 1 stack every 4 seconds.

3 While you have Vengeance, you gain 1 Dark Shroud shadow every 2 seconds. You also gain 25% Damage Reduction whenever you have at least 1 shadow and Knockback Close enemies when you lose a shadow.
5 While you have Vengeance, your Marksman Skills deal 200% increased damage and you trigger the last Marksman Basic Skill you used 3 times whenever you Cast a Marksman Skill at a targeted enemy.

Way of the Blurring Blade

Cutthroat Skills deal 45% increased damage. Stabbing an enemy in the back with a Cutthroat Skill deals 15% increased Critical Strike Damage.

3 Casting an Agility Skill grants you 30% Damage Reduction for 8 seconds and Slows Nearby enemy Small Missiles by 80% for 4 seconds.
5 After stabbing an enemy in the back or Critically Striking an enemy, your senses heighten, allowing all your hits to count as backstabs and granting 40% increased Cast Speed and 150% increased damage for 4 seconds. Cutthroat Skill backstabs have a 10% chance to make your next Agility Skill free to Cast, up to a maximum of 3.

Applied Alchemy

Your Grenade and Trap Skills deal 60% increased damage. Casting a Grenade or Trap Skill reduces the active Cooldown of your Grenade and Trap Skills by 1 second.

3 Gain 5% Damage Reduction for every Grenade or Trap Skill Casted within the last 12 seconds, up to 5%.
5 Casting a Grenade or Trap Skill triggers a cluster of exploding Stun Grenades that deal 2 total Physical damage and Stun enemies for [X] second. Enemies hit by Stun Grenades take 200% increased damage from your Grenade and Trap Skills for 6 seconds.

Legacy of the Sightless

Entering Stealth reduces any of your Ultimate Skills' active Cooldowns by 6 seconds and breaking Stealth grants 60% increased damage for 6 seconds.

3 Using an Ultimate Skill resets Concealment's Cooldown. Concealment gains all of its Side Upgrades and also grants 60% Damage Reduction while active and then 30% for 6 seconds after.
5 Gain a permanent Shadow Clone, which can now also Cast Death Trap and Rain of Arrows. Breaking Stealth now grants an additional 320% increased damage.

Spellbound Steel

Lucky Hit: Imbued Skills have up to a 9% chance to activate Inner Sight. While Inner Sight is active, Imbueable Skills are Shadow Imbued by default.

3 Automatically drink a free Healing Potion every 4 seconds. Drinking a Healing Potion increases your Maximum Life by 30% for 8 seconds.
5 Your Imbuements gain all of their Side Upgrades, their potency is increased by 200%, and grant 50% Lucky Hit Chance while active. While Inner Sight is active, your Imbueable Skills apply all Imbuements.

 

Best Charms and Sets

There is no single best Charm Set combination for every Build. You will have to match the Set bonus to your playstyle. You should also include the Legendary Charm in consideration. The Mythic Seal allows you to expand your combinations greatly by including 3 Legendary Charms at the cost of the final Set Bonus, which may or may not be very much worth it. The other Mythic Seal of the Diamond Mind enables the Set bonuses with one fewer piece, allowing you to activate both your Class and generic Set bonuses at once.
