Holy Fire Paladin Build for Diablo 2 Resurrected
Burn through Sanctuary with the Holy Fire Auradin, a luxury Paladin build that melts entire screens using dual Dragon and Hand of Justice.Holy Fire Paladin Build
Last Update: July 20, 2026
Introduction
Holy Fire Paladin, commonly known as the Auradin, is one of the most luxurious and visually spectacular melee builds in Diablo II Resurrected. Instead of relying primarily on weapon damage, the build surrounds itself with devastating pulses of Holy Fire granted by two Dragon runewords and Hand of Justice, creating a combined level 44 Holy Fire aura that incinerates enemies simply by moving through the battlefield. Supported by Conviction, which dramatically lowers enemy Fire Resistance, every pulse and melee strike deals tremendous elemental damage, allowing the build to effortlessly erase entire packs while maintaining exceptional survivability. Since nearly all of its power comes from rare runewords and premium equipment, Holy Fire Auradin is designed for well-established characters seeking a high-end PvM build capable of clearing virtually every area in Season 14 with minimal effort.
Once fully equipped, Holy Fire Auradin excels as an endgame farming powerhouse that blends passive area damage with fast and reliable melee combat. Most regular monsters perish from Holy Fire pulses before they ever reach the player, while Zeal quickly dispatches elite packs, champions, and bosses that survive the initial onslaught. High-end gear such as dual Dragon, Hand of Justice, and Infinity on the Mercenary unlocks the build's full potential by maximizing Holy Fire damage and breaking many Fire Immunities through Conviction. Although it demands an enormous investment, few builds offer such a satisfying combination of effortless map clearing, durable melee gameplay, and the unmistakable feeling of burning entire screens of enemies without slowing down.
Recommended Breakpoints
- Faster Hit Recovery (FHR): 86% (recommended)
- Faster Cast Rate (FCR): 48% (for smoother utility casting and Teleport)
Stat Allocation
- Strength: Enough to meet gear attribute requirements
- Dexterity: Enough to meet gear attribute requirements (or enough to maintain Max Block if desired)
- Vitality: Invest all
- Energy: Nothing
Holy Fire Auradin gains the overwhelming majority of its damage from Holy Fire granted by equipment rather than from attribute investment, making survivability the highest priority when allocating stat points. Because the build fights in melee range and often teleports directly into monster packs, maintaining a large Life pool greatly improves consistency and safety across all endgame content. Mana requirements remain relatively low, as Zeal is inexpensive to use and Teleport is only cast occasionally, allowing equipment and natural regeneration to sustain the build comfortably. After meeting the Strength and Dexterity requirements for your chosen equipment, every remaining attribute point should be invested into Vitality for maximum durability.
Pros
- Excellent Area Damage Without Active Casting
- Unique Fast Auradin Playstyle
- Very Tanky
- Strong Scaling With Endgame Gear
Cons
- Requires Specific Runewords to Reach Full Potential
- Mostly Single Damage Type

The recommended leveling path for the Holy Fire Auradin is fast, beginner-friendly, and naturally transitions into the final build. During the early game, Holy Fire provides exceptional passive damage that effortlessly clears entire packs of monsters while Zeal serves as your primary attack against tougher enemies and Act Bosses. Thanks to Holy Fire's powerful pulses and added Fire Damage, the build requires very little gear to progress comfortably through Normal difficulty, making it one of the smoothest Paladin leveling experiences available.
As you advance through Nightmare and into Hell, continue investing in Holy Fire and its synergies while upgrading your equipment whenever possible. Although the leveling version relies on the Paladin's native Holy Fire aura rather than item-granted auras, the overall playstyle remains nearly identical - running through monster packs while passive Fire Damage weakens or eliminates enemies before finishing survivors with Zeal. Once you acquire the build's core endgame equipment, including Hand of Justice and two Dragon runewords, the character transforms into a true Holy Fire Auradin. At that point, Conviction replaces Holy Fire as your active aura, dramatically increasing your Fire Damage while allowing the stacked level 44 Holy Fire granted by your equipment to annihilate enemies throughout every endgame farming area.
Gear
Hand of Justice is the undisputed Best-in-Slot weapon for Holy Fire Auradin and serves as one of the build's defining items. Besides granting a Level 16 Holy Fire Aura that stacks with both Dragon runewords, it provides Increased Attack Speed, Ignore Target's Defense, Deadly Strike, and a large bonus to Fire Damage through its -20% Enemy Fire Resistance modifier. Together, these bonuses significantly improve both Zeal's single-target damage and Holy Fire's overall effectiveness. Players assembling the build can temporarily use weapons such as Grief or Azurewrath while farming the required runes, but the true Holy Fire Auradin only comes online once Hand of Justice is equipped.
Dragon is mandatory in the shield slot and forms one-half of the build's signature Holy Fire stacking mechanic. In addition to providing a Level 14 Holy Fire Aura, Dragon offers enhanced Defense, Strength, and excellent survivability through its defensive modifiers. When combined with a second Dragon and Hand of Justice, the three item-granted auras merge into a devastating Level 44 Holy Fire Aura that becomes the primary source of damage throughout the game. Because of this unique interaction, there are no meaningful alternatives for the shield once transitioning into the finished build.
The second Dragon runeword is equally essential and occupies the armor slot. Together, both Dragons create the foundation of the Auradin's passive Fire Damage, allowing Holy Fire pulses to destroy most regular monsters without requiring direct attacks. Unlike many melee builds, Holy Fire Auradin derives the vast majority of its damage from these stacked item-granted auras, making Dragon one of the most impactful runewords in the entire setup. Without dual Dragon, the build simply cannot achieve its intended performance.
Helmet choice offers considerably more flexibility than the build's core equipment. Flickering Flame is generally considered the strongest offensive option thanks to its -Enemy Fire Resistance, Fire Skill bonus, Fire Resist Aura, and excellent Fire Resistance, all of which directly improve Holy Fire's damage. Players prioritizing survivability often prefer Crown of Ages, gaining substantial Damage Reduction, Resistances, and Faster Hit Recovery while maintaining outstanding overall performance. Well-rolled Rare Paladin Circlets with +Skills and valuable defensive modifiers can also perform well, although they rarely surpass these two premium options.
Laying of Hands remains the preferred glove choice for most Holy Fire Auradin setups due to its 20% Increased Attack Speed and enormous bonus damage against Demons. Since many of the game's most rewarding farming locations -including Chaos Sanctuary, Terror Zones, and numerous Act Bosses - are populated by Demons, the additional damage noticeably improves clear speed. Dracul's Grasp offers an excellent defensive alternative through Life Tap, while exceptional Rare or Crafted Blood Gloves with Increased Attack Speed, Crushing Blow, Life Leech, or Resistances can also become competitive endgame choices.
Gore Rider is widely regarded as the Best-in-Slot boots thanks to its combination of Crushing Blow, Deadly Strike, and Open Wounds, all of which substantially increase Zeal's effectiveness against elite monsters and bosses. Players looking for additional survivability may instead choose Sandstorm Trek for its Faster Hit Recovery, Strength, Vitality, and Poison Resistance, while War Traveler remains a solid option for those who wish to incorporate additional Magic Find into the build.
Verdungo's Hearty Cord is the most balanced belt option, providing Vitality, Faster Hit Recovery, and valuable Physical Damage Reduction that greatly enhances survivability during melee combat. Thundergod's Vigor becomes an excellent alternative when facing heavy Lightning Damage, offering Lightning Absorb, increased Maximum Lightning Resistance, and additional Strength and Vitality. Until these premium belts become available, a well-rolled Rare Belt with Life, Resistances, and Faster Hit Recovery serves as a perfectly viable replacement.
Highlord's Wrath is the preferred amulet thanks to its Increased Attack Speed, Deadly Strike, and +1 to All Skills, making it the strongest all-around option for maximizing Zeal's damage output. Mara's Kaleidoscope is an excellent alternative for players requiring additional Resistances and Attributes, while powerful Rare or Crafted amulets with +2 Paladin Skills, Increased Attack Speed, and useful defensive modifiers can also compete in optimized setups. Raven Frost remains mandatory in one ring slot due to Cannot Be Frozen, Dexterity, and Attack Rating, while the second slot is most commonly occupied by Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band for additional Skills and Life. Players optimizing their gear can also choose a high-quality Rare Ring with Life Leech, Attack Rating, Resistances, Strength, or Dexterity to better complement the rest of their equipment.
Charms
Charms for the Holy Fire Auradin are primarily focused on increasing survivability while maximizing Zeal's melee performance. Since the build's Holy Fire Aura is granted entirely by equipment, Skill Grand Charms provide very little value compared to efficient Small Charms that improve survivability and physical combat.
The Paladin Hellfire Torch and Annihilus are mandatory, providing valuable Skill Levels, Attributes, and All Resistances that benefit every aspect of the build. A Flame Rift Sunder Charm is also highly recommended, allowing Conviction to break many Fire Immunities and significantly improving Holy Fire's effectiveness against otherwise resistant enemies. Like most high-end Auradin setups, the remaining inventory is typically filled with Small Charms rather than Grand Charms. The most desirable are the famous 3/20/20 Small Charms, which provide 3 Maximum Damage, 20 Attack Rating, and 20 Life, substantially increasing Zeal's damage while also improving survivability. Complete the rest of your inventory with Small Charms featuring All Resistances, Faster Hit Recovery, Life, Attack Rating, or Maximum Damage as needed to comfortably reach important breakpoints and balance the rest of your equipment.

Final Thoughts
Holy Fire Auradin is one of the most visually spectacular and rewarding endgame melee builds in Diablo II Resurrected. Rather than relying solely on direct weapon damage, the build transforms the Paladin into a walking inferno by combining two Dragon runewords with Hand of Justice to create a devastating Level 44 Holy Fire Aura. Supported by Conviction and rapid Zeal attacks, Holy Fire Auradin effortlessly incinerates entire packs of monsters while maintaining excellent single-target damage against elite enemies and bosses, creating one of the smoothest farming experiences available in Season 14.
Like every true Auradin, this build is designed as a luxury endgame character rather than a Ladder Starter. Acquiring dual Dragon, Hand of Justice, and the remaining high-end equipment requires a substantial investment before the build reaches its full potential. However, once fully assembled, Holy Fire Auradin becomes one of the most satisfying melee builds in Diablo II Resurrected, combining exceptional clear speed, outstanding survivability, and the unique ability to destroy entire screens of enemies simply by walking through them. For players seeking one of the game's most iconic and prestigious PvM builds, few characters deliver a more enjoyable endgame experience.
